Altar Guild
“In response to all of God’s mighty acts, we are called to offer ourselves to God’s service. The basic motivation for serving in the altar guild, or any other work in the church, is gratitude.”
- Stauffer, Altar Guild Handbook
The Altar Guild surrounds us with beauty. They prepare the Altar and Sanctuary for the worship service each week, easing our path into the sacred connection each Sunday. Some of our members, who are skilled with needlework, create the vestments for the priest, linens for the Altar, and baptism blankets for our newest blessings.
Altar Guild is a service of creativity and joy, a place to meet wonderful friends, and a connection to God through service. We are deeply thankful for the talents and commitment our Guild brings to their work.

Altar Flowers
Many people have special days in the year on which they commemorate events or loved ones. Flowers on the altar of St. Joseph’s can fittingly mark the anniversary of a birth, baptism, confirmation, marriage or death, or may be used as an expression of joy of thanksgiving at any time. Anyone may give flowers to St. Joseph’s for any Sunday desired.
Christmas and Easter gifts are used for the flowers and plants which decorate our church on those festivals. During Lent, there are no flowers on the altar.
If you would like to designate flowers on a particular Sunday, and/or for Christmas, Easter, or the Thanksgiving Day services, please download and complete our Altar Flower Donation request form by clicking on the button below. Once you submit the completed form, the Altar Guild will contact you to confirm your request and provide details on ordering the flowers.
